What it sounds like these people are offering you is a travel club membership. Most of these travel clubs aren't worth the paper they're written on. The costs you are spelling out in your post seem too steep. Besides, with most of these travel club memberships, you end up spending more money than you originally planned in order to receive these "discounts". Just be glad you rescinded your original purchase in time.
