tHE OWNER OF A UNIT i WANTED TO RENT IS ASKING FOR A DEPOSIT IN A CERTIFIED CHECK OR CASHIER'S CHECK. iS THIS THE ROUNTINE?

Generally yes but we do not send any check until we receive a confirmed reservation. There is also an escrow service that acts as a go between and I think costs about $50.00.
