Trendwest and Worldmark - are they the same company?

I am looking at some timeshares on a resale basis. I am a bit confused - is Trandwest and Worldmark the same company? They seem to have the same properties. Is there a preference to buying points through either company?

They are related. They are in the same group as Fairfield Resorts is (or was....as that name is changed)

When Cendant broke into four companies, one was named Wyndham. Cendant controlled many T/S interests in their travel section, all the above, I believe IntraWest, and of course RCI.

When Wyndham was spun off......all the above companies became part of Wyndham. Fairfield is now called Wyndham (but not the others).

So...Trendwest and Worldmark are under the same corp. But, there are differences....and I forgot the fine points. Yahoo groups has a group for both Wyndham and Fairfield. Tug has a forum just for all Wyndham sections.
