RedWeek, Inc. Privacy Policy

Version 6 (Posted November 9, 2019) / see previous version.

We’re committed to protecting your privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and usage practices, and what actions you can take to modify or restrict how and when your information is used.

ABOUT THIS POLICY

This document describes the privacy practices of RedWeek, Inc. and its subsidiaries (which we’ll refer to collectively as “RedWeek”, “our”, “us”, or “we’). It applies to all interactions we may have with you as a customer or visitor, including, but not limited to:

  • The use of our website, www.redweek.com (the “Site”)
  • Communication by phone or e-mail
  • Social media interactions through our website or through third-party sites and applications, such as Facebook
  • Viewing our advertisements or e-mails

RedWeek provides various services related to the rental, resale, and use of resort vacation properties, and offers a platform for communication and interaction between our users. We’ll refer to these services collectively as our “Services.”

In order to operate our business and to provide such Services, we need to obtain certain personal information. By accepting our Terms of Service, you confirm that you’ve read and accept this Privacy Policy.

Note that as a platform, you may choose to interact directly with other RedWeek users. It is your responsibility to decide how much information you wish to share. This document pertains only to our use of your information. While we expect our users to respect your privacy, and may bar them from using our Services if they fail to do so, we nonetheless cannot be held responsible for their potential misuse of your data.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

The information we collect varies by service.

Registration

Many areas and functions of the Site are restricted to registered users. To register, we require your name and a valid e-mail address so we can communicate with you and provide personalized service.

Purchases

If you make a purchase, sensitive payment information (e.g., your credit card number) is directed to our secure, third-party payment processors and is never stored on our systems; we do, however, have access to the information through our PCI-compliant processors’ systems.

Communication with RedWeek

If you contact us by phone, e-mail, through the Site, or by other means, we may store the information you provide indefinitely in order to improve our customer service, resolve disputes, and to satisfy legal requirements. We may also receive confirmations when you open our communications.

Rental and resale postings

If you decide to advertise a unit for rent or resale on the Site, we’ll request all the information about your property we believe is pertinent (e.g., the resort name and location, unit size and amenities, week number or dates, asking price, etc.). For full-service postings, we may request additional details in order to facilitate the rental or resale transaction (e.g., your reservation confirmation number, your physical address, a copy of your deed or other ownership documentation, etc.).

User content

Various areas of the Site allow you to communicate and share information with other Redweek users. For example: reviews, questions & answers, forums, etc. If you decide to participate in these areas, it’s up to you to decide what information you wish to share. Do recognize, however, that such information will be publicly accessible to parties outside our control.

Device information

Additional data is collected automatically whenever you visit the Site. This includes information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and any data stored on your device from prior visits. As you browse the Site, we also collect information about the individual web pages that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.

We employ the following technologies, in this regard:

  • “Cookies” and “Web storage,” in which data is placed on your device or computer.
  • “Log files,” which track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • “Web beacons” (also known as “tags” or “pixels”), which record information when you browse the Site or view our communications.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell, rent, or give away your information except in cases where you specifically request it.

We use your information to:

  • Fulfill orders and provide our Services.
  • Improve our Services and the security of our systems (by examining, for example, how you use the Site).
  • Respond to your questions or requests (via our customer service team, for example).
  • Customize the RedWeek experience (based on your profile and prior behavior).
  • Send you information and promotions we think may be of interest, contingent on your preferences. We may also advertise to you on other websites through the use of retargeting campaigns.
  • Communicate with you about your account or our relationship (for example, to update you on changes to this Privacy Policy, changes in the status of your products or services, etc.).

INFORMATION SHARING

As a general principle, we try to share as little of your information as necessary to provide our Services.

If you purchase a do-it-yourself (DIY) rental or resale posting, only RedWeek members are permitted to contact you; inquiries are submitted through the Site and delivered to the e-mail address you provided. Your e-mail address will not be revealed to them until or unless you choose to reply.

If you inquire about a DIY rental or resale posting, the owner of the posting will receive your e-mail address as part of the correspondence. If you’d prefer not to disclose your primary e-mail address, we’d encourage you to create a separate e-mail account for this purpose.

If a rental posting uses RedWeek's online booking system (in which RedWeek coordinates the rental agreement and payment between parties), and a booking is agreed upon, the names of the parties are disclosed within the rental agreement. The renter’s physical address will also be provided, since many resorts require that information to complete reservations.

If you ask us to independently verify the details of your posting (through the purchase of a full-service rental or resale posting, the addition of RedWeek Verification to a DIY posting, or through participation in RedWeek's online booking system), you agree to allow RedWeek representatives to communicate with your resort (and/or the resort management company) on your behalf, to confirm the details of your ownership and usage.

We may also share your information with:

  • Third-parties who perform services on our behalf (for example, to process an order, your billing information would be provided to our financial processor)
  • Other organizations or individuals at your request (to record a sale with a title company, for example, or to resolve a dispute)
  • Law enforcement or regulatory agencies, as required by law (to respond to a court order or subpoena, for example)
  • Other business partners (to execute joint promotions, for example)

If RedWeek, Inc. or its subsidiaries were to be sold, either wholly or in part, the successor company or companies may acquire some or all of your information as part of the transaction.

We currently use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”), for the purpose of analyzing your use of the Site. Information about your use (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google may, in turn, transfer this information to additional third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google does not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

You can read more about how Google uses your personal information at www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy.

PRIVACY PREFERENCES

If you prefer not to receive promotional communications from us, you may change your settings through the My Account section of the Site, or by e-mailing us. Please allow a few days for changes to be fully honored by our systems.

Even if you opt out of receiving promotional communications, we may still contact you for transactional purposes (e.g., to confirm an order, respond to customer service questions, notify you of updates to this Privacy Policy, etc.).

If you wish to opt-out of Google Analytics tracking, please see tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

EUROPEAN RESIDENTS

If you are a resident of Europe, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please submit your request through the contact information below.

Additionally, European residents should note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example, if you make an order through the Site), or to otherwise pursue our legitimate business interests as described above. Note also that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, to the United States and potentially other jurisdictions in which RedWeek or our third-party providers operate.

DATA SECURITY

We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) software to protect the transmission of all information, both to and from the Site. And we use other industry standard measures to protect your data in situ.

Credit-card information is encrypted and transmitted to our secure, third-party payment processors. It is never stored on our systems.

If you register with us, your account is protected by a password which should be kept private. If you use a public or shared computer, be sure to sign out of RedWeek once you’re finished to prevent unauthorized use of your account. If you believe your RedWeek account or e-mail account has been compromised, please let us know as soon as possible.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will attempt to notify you of any changes before they go into effect.
