This is an old thread, but I haven’t found an answer anywhere else on this site. I’m wanting to know how the state of Hawaii would know if I rented out a week on my own, without a broker or Redweek. It seems easy to avoid any sort of paper trail, and if me not being there as an occupant causes Marriott to report to the state, I could say I had a scheduling problem and opted to gift my week rather than last-minute cancel and convert to points.
