"I take responsibility for the fact that I was dumb enough to sign up for the timeshare"

A lot of extremely smart, sophisticated consumers make the same mistake. It is not about how intelligent you are. In fact a skilled con man will recognize your intelligence and find a way to use it against you. These sales agents are following a program that has been honed over decades by people that are experts in psychological manipulation. Most victims never know what hit them.

An untrained boxer is not going to fare well in a ring with a trained boxer. A timeshare sales presentation is the same kind of mismatch. You weren't dumb, you were conned. I think anyone can be conned.

If you retained a licensed attorney and you believe his conduct was improper, discuss it with him. If that does not result in a satisfactory settlement, consider making a report to his professional organization. If you are right that he violated his professional responsibility, your report might prevent him from doing the same to others.
