So, Stan, you are one of two on the current discussion who did sell or buy via Timeshare Adventures, Inc. How much was the up front fee? MD

I purchased through TimeshareAdventures web site, I have never sold through them. I don't know the upfront fee. I was inexperienced at the time and probably paid too much for the property, but that is not why I do not have a high opinion of them. As I said in my last post, I don't want to get into details, but I would never sell a property through them. Stan.

Dear vlahos: Thank you very much for the warning. I so much wish someone had told me about Taino Beach Resorts before I bought there. It was supposed to be fee simple, my lifetime plus willing the deed after my death to my heirs; when I got the contract it was only for 40 years. The maintenance fees were supposed to never go up an dthat was the big selling point for me. When I got the contract (6 mos later) it say the fees could go up 10% a year over the previous year. They stuck to that until this year, when now they are trying to throw out the old contracts entirely and make people pay 6 times higher maint fees this year, or else get out and abandon their timeshares!!! TIme for a lawsuit. Bunch of thieves.

I MUST AGREE!!! We bought in 1999 because of their promise of low maintenance fees. They not only added 10% every year, but now Levy and Taxes too. Also, they want us to pay for damages from 2004-2006 from an act of GOD!!! They sent me a letter saying our Gift Certificate (yeah, the one we are supposed to be able to pass on to our heirs and get $14,000 in 3 years from now) has been cancelled due to my non-payment of special assessment fees that supposedly their government said they can charge!!!! What does "no provision for rescission" means? We should band together in a collective lawsuit. They ARE robbing us!

The awful truth is that special assessments are part and parcel of timeshare ownership, just as rising maintenance fees, however the salespeople don't tell you about such during presentations. When a resort does not have the proper reserves in place and a natural disaster hits or there are severe maintenance issues within the resort then the HOA or developer begins the special assessment process charging owners for such.

If a special assessment is not paid then the ownership can go into default.

Also, anything they told you that is not in the written contract means absolutely nothing (ie: the maintenance fees will never go up). It's what's in the written contract that counts in a court of law, not all the lies and hogwash they told you in the presentation.

I have been with Timeshare Adventures, Inc as a paid customer for 5 years. I paid up-front to have a posting of my time share to either sell or rent. My timeshare is in a premium location. And in 5 years they have not produced a successful offer to rent or sell my timeshare. They would say that they have no control over what the people who make the offers do on their end - which is true. But don't you think that if I accepted every offer given to me (which I did) that they should have been able to at least created enough volume to rent or sell my time share in 5 years?

I don't wish any negative press on Timeshare Adventures, but I want to make sure people realize that what is said in the front end (from sales people) don't always turn up as the truth on the back end (even after 5 years!).

I hope this helps someone.

I absolutely DISAGREE ..... any company that charges large upfront fees should be warned that they are going to get negative press .... all such companies are SCAMS and forum members at Redweek (and other timeshare forums) are getting the word out, and in doing so their scams/businesses are being damaged, hopefully to the point of being closed down completely one day by the law.

They are no better than thieves and crooks in prisons where they should be themselves (white collar criminals). ALL they want is that upfront fee .... THAT'S their business model and they'll tell you ANYTHING to get it.

What you can do is help get the word out.

I am trying to sell my timeshare and have it listed on several sites for nominal fees. Timeshare Adventures desperately wanted me to list with them after I made an inquiry about their services. They bugged me with phone calls and e-mails. However, they charge an upfront fee of $595. Since they made themselves out to be so great, I countered their offer and said I would pay them $1,000 on the tail end if they sold it for BELOW what they said it was worth AND if I paid the 2010 maintenance fees. Their reply: "we are multi-million dollar company and don't make unethical deals such as you are suggesting." Their reasons? It wasn't in their "business model" and that it would be "illegal to accept a commission." So what to they consider their fee? And why couldn't they accept my "fee"?? So there you go. I made them an offer they couldn't refuse and they did. Do you know of ANYONE who actually volunteered to raise the fee they'll pay?

Because all they want is the upfront fee, period, they have no intention of selling your timeshare ..... getting the upfront fee IS their BUSINESS MODEL.

Hi Yvette,

This company has been blocked from advertising on RedWeek in the future. The ad was posted by Google on our website.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

These people are crooks, no matter how you slice it of dice it they are crooks.

I tried to sell my timeshare through them and they had a phantom buyer represent himself to me, I did all I was required to do, but once the final paper work was to be sent and the deal to be closed, they started to come up with "Never agreed to" items.

I would not EVER, EVER ever deal with the crooks.

JUST ME

That's the 'modus operandi' of all upfront fee resale companies ... the lies they tell to get your credit card number then all of a sudden the deal falls through but they keep that upfront fee.

I answered their ad about getting a person out of their timeshare mortgage and did the on line chat which resulted in a phone call from a rep. She assured me that they could and would get rid of my timeshare within 30 days--for a fee of $2900.00. Has anyone had any luck with this company getting rid of their timeshare?

Why would you pay someone $2900 to get rid of a timeshare? That's 3-4 years' maintenance fees! You don't think you could try to give it away in 3-4 years?

Besides, all these PCCs do is make you sign a power of attorney giving them the right to do what they want with the property while you are still legally the owner and, hence, responsible for maintenance fees.

If you have an outstanding loan on a timeshare, as suggested in your quoted above post, there is NO entity existing on Planet Earth that can or will "get you out of" that loan obligation (...a legally binding contract into which you voluntarily chose to enter).

Rather than waste money on the delusion of somehow achieving the impossible, you might consider contacting the developer (in writing, not by phone) to see if they will consider negotiating a deedback in lieu of foreclosure. Likely not, but it costs NOTHING to inquire. Paying an upfront fee to ANY parasite company in the pipe dream of achieving the impossible would be outright foolish.

Every time I hear that name- Timeshare Adventures, inc; my heart turns red with hate. Listen up all you Owners out there, Listen to what RedWeek.Com is saying about any thing to do with timeshares. Truly I should have given RedWeek.Com my $295 and if they took 5 years to sell my timeshare it would have been worth it, than giving it to the above scum of the earth a bunch of ripoffs and liers. They are a bunch of leeches that attached themselves to professionl Website as RedWeek.Com thats how I saw the little scum and click on it. They will never get me again I will tell any one, "Don't Go there," they are deadly, they will strip you of your hard earn money they can't rent your timeshare they are a listing service by name they don't even put your timeshare in view for any one to see as RedWeek does. Listen! they give you a false add number thats all it is, a number that has no power its dead; and take your money thats a wicked act Timeshare Aventures, inc is doing to Owners that have no idea what they have gotten themselves into. Listen! STAY TUNED TO REDWEEK.COM. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REDWEEK. I have learned so much about timeshare since I was told about REDWEEK.COM and when ever I need information about anything to do with timeshares I have a good source to go to. Thank you REDWEEK.COM for being honest, candid, and straightfoward to all your customers.
