Cancelling within 10 days
Hi! I am a member of Worldmark and currently owned 20000 credits. We were hooked into going from Silver to Diamond membership and we bought 8000 more credits. After buying I am feeling that we made a mistake and I want to cancel. Can you tell me what you wrote in your letter?
Thank you!
Wendy C.
Me and my fiance just got swept up in purchasing a timeshare from westgate in gatlinburg. I need to get this canceled. Can I call my debit card company and tell them to stop payment or what do I do. K know I need to send a rescission letter and will be doing that tomarrow.

I didn’t contact my cc company, but only mail in my rescission letter and the promotional material in a separate package within 10days of cancellation period.
I still remember how frustrated I was to cancel my contract and impatiently waiting to see my refund. However I received a lot of Great advice and comments from our dear friends on this site.
As long as you clearly states the purpose of your letter and mail your letter within the timeframe, I believe you will be fine. I got my life back after I got it cancelled.

First off I want to thank everyone who took the time to help people like me who made a mistake and looked for help. Everyone in this thread helped me get out of my Marriott "ownership/timeshare". You do not have to help anyone but you did and for that I praise God. God bless you.
Hey It has been a while. Sorry for the delayed response. So I'm am ecstatic to say that everything went perfectly once I sent a letter to cancel. Granted I went above and beyond and did extra but honestly you need to just to be sure. All I can say is if you purchased the points package/real estate ownership/basically a timeshare from the Marriott and want to back out the very next day because it didn't settle in right in your soul; there is a way out. I followed everything everyone said during this thread so just read and you will find the answers already provided for others. Feel free to ask me if you want me to get specific, I will more than gladly help.(I know that feeling of "crap I made a mistake I need a way out!")

Frankly, I am not sure what should do in your case. If you already made transaction via the phone, still I think you need to mail the cancellation letter that way I think it is more formal. I hope other friends in this forum can provide more fruitful advice.

Helena Did you go back to resort where purchased? We went back, they made us write letter. Then took tablet and kit with all materials. A notary signed receipt. Came home thought about transaction. They wouldn't let me read contract for rescinding. I read on this sight and mailed a copy again certified to the headquarters with the other address. Waiting for response..of cancellation and refund.

I am so glad that I found this posting. I read my contract and sent request to cancel on 3rd day. I was so anxiously waiting to hear from Wyndham as it has been a week, I mailed as certified with return receipt, but now I feel better after reading through all replies. Thank you all!
carlosa125 wrote:I am within my 10 day period and understand I can cancel. I called and they say that even for cancellation they will charge closing costs of 10% purchase value plus some other benefits. Shouldn't they honor the statute that says without any cost or obligation and they will refund all money?

Thank you for sharing your updates and the results of cancellation. We are on the second d day of the contract and would like to cancel. What address did you send the letter? I only found the address for the Wyndham Perks cancellation but have not read where to send the letter to rescind.
Thank you!
carlosa125 wrote:Probably no one would care much; but...I just received a letter from the Resort confirmation that my contract has been cancelled and the funds re-imbursed. I cant believe it and hope the best outcome for anyone dealing with the burden of this type of contracts.!!

I am Wyndham owner too. Read your contract carefully. It is not on the long paper, but on a piece of standard A4 paper. It specifically says rescission days set by the state law and the address you should mail ( definitely certified). It is not the headquarter in FL, if you are Wyndham club member, it should be financial services in Las vagus, NV. But please send exactly as what is listed on your contract!

My contract is cancelled today (1/10/2020) which is about a week upon receipt.
What I wrote is very simple. Below is the template:
*****Request of Cancellation of Contract# xxxxxxxx****
Today is xx/XX/XX, , we, NAMES, are writing to cancel the purchase of timeshare contract we signed on xx/XX/XX at the location:
ADDRESS
The Contract Number is: XXXXXX
The seller on the closing disclosure is listed as:
NAME ADDRESS
purchaser(s) Information:
NAME ADDRESS PHONE EMAIL
We understand this request is within the rescission period X days as set by state of XX law to cancel this timeshare contract.
Thank you for your attention.
Signatures ( everyone signed on the contract as purchaser need to sign)
