Successful Resales & Rental Feedback Wanted
REDWEEK, Just a note to say I have been very successful in renting multiple weeks with Redweek. I have used Redweek for several years now and continue to refer others to your site. In fact just got off the phone with new owners in St. Thomas giving them some assistance. I have rented my Vistana Orlando, Marriott Grande Vista Orlando, and Marriott Frenchman's Cove St Thomas US Virgin Island units through this site. Keep up the good work site is also ver user fiendly Thanks again Glenn 609-374-0068

Greetings:
Does anyone have any success in renting weeks that are banked in Interval international ? I can't find a way to list them here on redweeks, because redweeks require that a certain resort and date be identified, but the weeks are open to anything that is available. Any ideas on how I can list these banked weeks ?
Thanks !

arturia wrote:You can rent your II exchanges if you pay the $49 guest certificate for the rental and it is suppose to be "not advertised". But with the rules of Redweek you have to advertise for rent one particular resort. The dates might be variable if you are willing to take the chance of the draw at the last minute and advertise it for Jan 1-Dec 31 or what ever your resort allows (usually excludes end of year holiday weeks)We have used rental units within the family but would not risk renting in the open market and lose our investment.
The best way to rent is to book a week and rent that week with a guest certificate.
WRONG .... It's against RCI and II rules and regulations to rent or sell a deposit or exchange .... if they catch you doing it they can (and will) suspend your account forever.
Guest certificates are for family and friends, not for profit making ventures. The only reimbursement allowed for owners that request a guest certificate for family and friends is the exchange fee and guest certificate fee (nothing more, not even reimbursement of maintenance fees).

True, I had a trade in Az. Could not make it, tried to sell the week just to recoupe funds. The RCI people said, "cannot be done" end of story. Told them I did not know, life goes on. Also if you are renting, last minute prices have been real good with a weak economy. (Gold Crown Resorts for great rates)

I have rented twice on redweek. I week in Myrtle Beach and 1 week in Daytona. I person was a timeshare owner needing more space and the second was getting family together. I did one transaction with bank check and one on Paypal. Just be aware that paypal does charge, so you will need to put that into your rental price or tell the renter up front that they need to pay. I have not had a lot of traffic, but I believe posting rental on Redweek is safer that Craigs list, you need to pay a membership fee and pay to post rentals, so I think everyone is serious about the rentals and renting. FYI I was almost scamed on Craig's list, but realized before any money was transacted.

Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of forums on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say Im glad I found your forum. Thanks

No one is going to help you like you can help YOURSELF and you'll save a lot of money, even though some time and effort is going to be required on your part. Specific details and recommendations follow:how did you sell?? did you use an on-line firm, a real estate brokeage, sell yourself??any details would be helpful
1. Craigslist is free to advertise, but the spammers, scammers and "phishers" are much too numerous there (and seem to be in endless supply). Time is money too --- don't bother with Craigslist , unless you want to waste a lot of time weeding through such chaff (and contacts from fictitious "Nigerian Princes", UK Lottery Winner notifications, and other such nonsense, all looking to somehow steal your money).
2. eBay has essentially become the "global dumping ground" for timeshares of low demand and/or low value. If you are prepared to basically GIVE your timeshare away (and pay eBay lising fees to do so), this is an avenue to at least consider. eBay prices are as low as low can possibly go. However, with at least 1,000+ timeshares advertised on eBay each and every day, yours can still very easily get "lost" in the sheer volume of "offerings" there.
3. I sold off two of my weeks in the past year or so. I sold one week on RedWeek and one week on MyResortNetwork. Yes --- BOTH sites cost money to advertise, but if your timeshare actually DOES have any demand or any significant resale value, the advertising cost is worthwhile. Personally, these are the ONLY two sites I would utilize (or have ever used in the past) to advertise a timeshare which has any real value at all. If it has no real value, you can just offer it as a "bargain basement" giveaway on TUG and/or RedWeek.
Hope some of this input helps you. Good luck.

Not necessarily ..... the vast majority of timeshares on Ebay are listed by Post Card Companies (which the owner of those timeshares paid the PCC $3000+ to take it off their hands), so the PPC turns around and lists it on Ebay.
Many Tuggers have bought timeshares from Ebay via PCCs ..... Ebay is not necessarily a dumping ground ..... it's those timeshares people merely wanted to get rid of via a PCC.
If I was looking to buy a timeshare on Ebay, I would continue using the search feature to find the exact location and week I wanted.

Dear Redweek,
I'm interested in purchasing a resale timeshare however I'm leary of how the process works. I've heard about a lot of scams that have happened where people have purchased time shares that actually don't exist. Does redweek check the references and confirm people that are selling the timeshares are not scams? Some resale timeshares are priced too good to be true? Thank you for your help.

I sold one Welk week (Week 48 in escondido) back to Welk who wanted it for their Rental/Resale program. I have tried for five years to sell a floating week at Casa Dorada (Dreams) in Cabo. Absolutely no interest. Like other comments here, there are just too many timeshares out there and the maintenance fees are approaching or even EXCEEDING the rental value of the units. Got stuck giving one Orlando company $250 for a "one year guaranteed sale". The Company went out of business at about 11 months and my Credit Card bank refunded my 250 after sending them a copy of the contract with the defunct company.

We are selling our Mayan Palace and are offering a good deal because due to health issues my husband just can't travel like we use to so time to get rid of it. I think there are ways to make sure people are legit; speak with them directly, references, can check with the site and verify they are owners.
