construction
We are scheduled to go to Frenchmans cove on march 24. I saw pictures of the property taken from the water about 6 weeks ago. I called there and said I thought it looked like Bagdad on a bad day. Was told all was well in the progress. After reading the forum reports tonight I have a bad feeling. I will call the resort tomorrow and try to get some current, close up pictures of the property. If I can't get any good pictures, that will tell me a lot. I will share whatever I get with this site.

Thank you. Olga
I will say this. I don't know when they were taken, and they don't show anything of any value.
I would say that the place should be ready by August.
I was told that MARRIOTT would not dissapoint any client. I responded that they already had. I don't think the people booked into this place were happy .

Oh..thank you anyway...I am sure that Marriott will take care of unhappy clients. Unfortunately, there are lots of things that can go wrong when building a new resort. I can't say I am surprised. However, I think FC is going to be a beautiful and popular vacation spot.....and I'll be there each year in February :-) (fingers crossed) LOL
Thank you again for sharing the information! Olga

We just returned from 2 weeks at the resort. It is a lovely place and will be most beautiful when completed.
The staff was helpful.
My wife had called two weeks before our arrival and was assured that the resort was handicapped friendly and that it would accommodate a person in a wheelchair.
We had not requested a handicapped room as we did not think that it would be necessary, it was not.
There are 30 stairs do go down to the pool and beach. She was only able to navigate the stairs three times in two weeks with her cane. The elevator was still being constructed and was not able to be used to the pool or beach area.
We are greatly dissapointed that the project managers office was less than truthful in their assessments of the resorts ability to provide full use of the completed amenities to its handicapped guests.
It is our hope that the resort can be better equiped to handle older and handicapped owners. This was a lost vacation.

Thanks Thomas, I hope no one else needs it, we plan to grill almost every eve for 2 weeks!
Just be aware we were there last week and had a lot of hungry stares when we grilled our burgers and dogs. If you want to throw some extra on, you'd have no trouble selling it.
Is is a small regular grill like you'd have at home, but it was clean. They had a brush and grill utensils but we took the spatula from our room down.

We also just returned from a week at this resort. Acutally there is alot of constructions but they have it roped off so you don't notice it. The pool was wonderful. It will be alot better when the restaurant is open which will happen on June 1 per the resort. The units were really nice and the check in people were really helpful. I would rent a car next time because all the cab fares added up. Overall the week was wonderful and I'm looking forward to using my unit once a year. E-mail me with any specific questions.

We were there the first week of April. I think like most Caribbean islands there is a chance of rain everyday. A few days looked like it would rain but it really only rained one day for a little while in the morning. As I mentioned earlier there was one BBQ grill down by the pool which we used one night, it is your standard home back deck grill. The fitness center at the Cove was small, basically 2 treadmills and an elliptical if I recall correctly (appeared high quality equipment). There is a large fitness room with weights, machines, etc over at the Hotel which we observed through the windows. The Cove is supposed to have a bigger better equipped room once the new building near the pool opens which I think is slated for June 1st or so.

Thanks for the info Sally, that helps. I'll let my husband know, he will probably opt to take the trek up the hill to the larger fitness room while I'm taking my morning walk, any good areas to walk there? Are you the one that mentioned there are no trees for shade around the pool, do thay at least have umbrellas?
The count down is on only 7 days left!! Our California tans are ready for the Caribbean!

Hi Ruth, Sorry that was Rob that replied there, I forgot to sign the resposne (but I'll give Sally the credit). Walking is a little tougher as it very hilly. I'd also suggest taking the shuttle over to the hotel (just call the lobby when you want it and they will page it). The shade is somewhat limited at the pool, there are some umbrellas and also some palm trees that do give some shade. In addition there are some palm trees on the beach which can give some shade. The pool is more shady in the morning as the resort generally faces west so later in the day the sun would be in your face as you look out over the water.
