Malibu village resort france

We have a booking at the above in September 2008 and are dismayed at the travellers reviews we have read. We are senior citizens aged over 70. Can anyone let us know what Malibu resort is really like, we will not have a car and rely on public transport. We wish to go out every day and see as much as possible of the country side including a day trip to Barcelona. Is public transport available from the resort and most important, are the rooms and amenities as awful as the reviews tell us. We would appreciate any advice. With thanks Keith and Jan Middleton
