RCI points

I am not a member of RCI but own a week at Orange Lake Resort which we love! Use it every year and can't wait to get there! If we were to change to points one day, does the points they give you change into RCI points or do they remain the same. Example, if you had say 90000 Holiday Inn Vacation Points points would that change into a certain amount of RCI points or remain at 90000 RCI points if you ever wanted to switch a week to another resort. What is the advantage of points, could we not exchange our 2 bedroom red week to another 2 bedroom week in anther resort for a change one year and get the same value.
