Wheelchair Access in Kona

Really hate to give up my 2-bedroom handi-capped condo in Kona. My mom can't transfer from her chair. I have found a resonable shuttle from the airport in which she can stay in her chair but most Taxis she would have to transfer. Even the transportation department was not much help.
Any suggestions? Has anyone visited Kona who was in a wheelchair?
I found 2 wonderful sites: ability trip and disabled adventures hawaii. There are so many activities someone can do in a wheelchair. There are boats equiped with a lift arm to put someone who can't walk into the water to snorkle, also a ramp on the kailua pier for easy loading onto boats. Also a kayak company and horseback riding offer assistance for those in wheelchairs so they can do those activities!
