Ovation forbids buying resale in the future
We bought our first Wyndham maybe around 2000 when our kids were about 3 yrs old and then a second when they were about 12 yrs old ( and didn't want to share a murphy or pull out sofa anymore) . When they hit about 16 we hit hard times, got a huge super bill on top of maintenance fees, at our snowy resort that was a thing for just that one year... but it was like $700 extra which was just over the top for us already paying high MF at Durango. So a young guy from higher up corporate called me , maybe it was a call back...and he was a great listener...I asked him why doesn't Wyndham take back timeshares from people that hit hard times and Wyndham could resale them to keep them off of ebay. Then I told him they would be like Toyota where it holds it value better longer and makes it more alluring. Next thing I know he called me back and said they created ovations and could take it back. And so we gave back our 2nd purchase and kept our original. It was big loss...but I told my husband when things change we can always go back on ebay and buy something back and with better maintenance fees.
Fast forward to today. We would like to get our points back but a seller on ebay stated this in their listing: If you were a previous Wyndham or WorldMark owner and have gone through their Ovations program, you will not be eligible to own another timeshare from them per Wyndham/WorldMark.
So I contacted the seller asking if they thought it would be so for us since we only gave back one ten years ago and still own. And they responded with this: New message from: legacytimeshares (255TURQUOISE_STAR Star) Thanks for the inquiry and unfortunately, you cannot purchase from us with Ovations being done in the past. We were instructed this by Wyndham/Worldmark and work directly with them. They have a database apparently. Not sure you can with anyone else, unless they know something I do not, and I have been doing this for 10 years.
Wyndham Points can be used at ANY Wyndham for future reference.
Sorry to disappoint and wish I had better news.
Cheers!
Any advice? We would really like more wyndham or wordmark but only resale which looks not possible.

My advice is to contact Wyndham directly yourself to verify (or refute) the accuracy and veracity of this seller's claims. I certainly would not just blindly accept the input of a third party, anonymous eBay reseller as the final word on Wyndham corporate policies. This nameless eBay reseller's input may be correct, but I would recommend verifying the facts for yourself straight from the horse's mouth instead of just accepting the input of one anonymous eBay advertiser.

I called and Wyndham had no idea what he was talking about. They gave me numbers for 2 resale companies they recommend. Neither of them ever heard of it either and one person said he worked for Wyndham for years as well. I kind of doubt the ebay seller was lying...probably came up on Right of refusal. Anyways if I purchase and get refused for that reason I will be out $75 fee for bidding as a "non payer". So I just won't go through that guy. Nothing against him...he just doesn't want to get burned again...is what I am thinking. He said as much in his reply.
