Buying, Renting, and Selling Timeshares

Marriott Vacation Club points

Mar 10, 2026

I have no travel plans this year. What are the potential risks of selling my Marriott Vacation Club points? Is there any official buyback option? I couldn’t find relevant information in the forum. Thank you very much.

Just our experience but we’ve found success using the points to reserve a week or # of days at a popular resort and then renting the unit out. I am not aware of an option to sell with MVCI. Best you can do is bank them into next year or use for a special cruise, experience or hotel as far as I know.

My wife and I are looking to go to Hawaii during September or beginning of October. Might we/you be able to book something we can then use?

Have you reviewed the listings of weeks people are renting for a specific resort in Hawaii? Typically there are a variety of options people are currently selling. I have a listing currently for a Studio Guest Bedroom at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu from August 29 - September 5: https://www.redweek.com/posting/R1349784.

Howard, I ran into this same problem with my own MVC points and ended up building a site to solve it. It’s called Book My Points (bookmypoints.com). The idea is a co-op: owners with surplus points they won’t use sign up, guests submit booking requests for specific resorts and dates, and when your points fulfill a request you get paid. You keep your ownership, you just put the unused points to work instead of losing them. Monte, the site works the other direction too if you’re still looking at Hawaii for Sept/Oct. You tell us the resort, dates, and unit size, and an owner with matching points books it for you. Would love your feedback if you try it, still early days.

I would be interested in a week at the Delta in Whistler BC in February if you wanted to sell some points. Ideally a two bedroom unit in the centre of Whistler.

This site doesn’t come up when I search?

It’s a new domain. I’m still working on getting it indexed by search engines.

When using any type of embedded links, hyperlinks, personal emails, or website address in the forum posts it can trigger out anti-spam system to delete posts for further review. Adding personal information or website addresses not associated with the forum subject can also cause possible delays in posting or deletion pending review.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be more careful about external links going forward.

I would be interested in renting a unit with your points.

Please get back to me and let me know if you’re interested and we can work out a location/date.

Please do not post ads or requests in the timeshare forums. If you want to add a timeshare posting go through a proper posting. The forums are not for buying, renting, or selling.
