Update - May 2011. Just got back from another wonderful week at Bay & Beach. After 3 and a half years, I was able to buy a week and was in heaven the entire time. The place hasn't changed a bit, which is a good thing. The staff are as nice as they could possibly be. The beach was wonderful, and the upkeep and decor were fine. This is the best place to stay in the approximately 30-mile stretch of beach between Clearwater and St Pete Beaches. Quieter, less traffic, etc. Beaches uncrowded and beautiful, clear water. So much birdlife to watch - pelicans, herons, egrets, etc. The views are incredible, the decks on the units very big, and all are end units. I can't WAIT to return!
Dining Tips: The buffet at Sheppards on Clearwater Beach was pretty darn good, and not a bad price. Afterwards, the outdoor tiki bar was a fun place to stroll, have another drink, and listen to the reggae band. For a really great meal, try PJ's Oyster Bar, just off the main drag in Indian Rocks. No view, no atmosphere, just great, great seafood and steaks and fairly priced; nice service, too. That's the one place we know we will always return to.
Just returned from a wonderful stay in our
spacious gulf-front unit. The place is clean and
well-run. Close (though not really walking
distance) to several restaurants. Pool area is
small, but nice - and a very large hot tub. The
only problem was noise noise noise - mostly
from properties on either side. One was
sandblasting their units, and the other, on one
morning, was using an extremely loud weed
eater. These were bothersome because they
shattered the normal peace and quiet, but
neither went on for too long. The staff was
friendly and helpful. I would advise anyone
considering a stay to try to get a unit off the
street (either gulf-front or intracoastal
waterway) as the units on the street will be
subject to much traffic noise.
