We bought a unit at Ocean Villas, off the
internet, without having seen the resort. We
visited for the first time in October 2003 and
were pleased with our purchase.
The resort is a series of bungalows snuggled up
behind the dune just steps from the beach. Or
what used to be the dune, prior to the hurricane.
The resort is not a Gold-Crown, but it is a
Resort of Distinction. I found the units to be
very practical and functional, but definitely not
fancy. The resort is a favorite for fishermen
and they even provide fish cutting tables outside.
The resort is narrow with a row of bungalows up
each side and the drive way is in the middle.
There is a swimming pool but since we were there
in October it was closed. There is limited
parking during the prime season, so only one car
is allowed then.
Since the bungalows are close to each other, I
would not recommend this resort for a honeymoon,
unless you went in the winter and didn't care
that it wasn't fancy. In the summer peak season,
my guess is that the resort would seem crowded
and noisy. It would be a great family resort if
you wanted to spend most of your time on the
beach or fishing.
Some of the units are 1BR and some are 2BR. We
had one of the 2BR. There was a small fenced-in
patio off one of the bedrooms and the master
bedroom had a jacuzzi (though the hot water tank
was not big enough to fill the tub as full as you
might like).
The kitchen was nicely furnished and there was a
small stacking washer and drier in the unit.
They also have a nice website with pictures.
