Smuggler's Cove Resort West Reviews & Ratings

I've owned here for several years. The units are large and clean, with huge bay windows overlooking Yaquina Bay and the beautiful old bridge. The neighborhood is quiet, but only a couple blocks from the waterfront bars and restaurants. I own 6 timeshares, and have stayed at many others, but this one is better stocked than anywhere I've ever been. Wifi is included with no extra charge. The management has thoughtfully provided just about anything you would need. The location is incredible, if you were buying a house in Newport, you would want it to be in this neighborhood. Each unit has a large living room, 2 bathrooms, 1 bedroom, a small balcony overlooking the bay, and a full kitchen and laundry. There are 2 recliner chairs and a sofa in the living room. The hot tubs referred to in a previous review are long gone. This isn't Hilton or Marriott class , but rather a homey laid back comfortable apartment with older but clean furniture. I look forward to my stay here every year, I would never trade or rent it. This is a place to relax and enjoy the best that the Oregon Coast has to offer.

As a owner at this resort, I feel I need to speak to the qualities of this timeshare. There are just 5 units housed in one unit. Only steps lead to each unit. It is located on the bay in Newport with each unit offering views of the bay through large windows. It is a small quiet timeshare with no extra frills. The rooms have been updated with furnishings, and no hot tubs exist in the units. There is parking right in front of the building. There is a generous kitchen area by the living room, which has the 3 large windows facing the bay. There is small washer/dryer in each unit. There is a murphey bed that comes out of the wall for one sleeping arrangement, and there is the one bedroom with its own bathroom. There is another bathroom in the hallway also. Newport is located about midway on the Oregon coast and so you have lots of opportunities for day trips. Newport has a lot of tourist offerings also. If you are looking for a quiet getaway--yet close to the action, Smuggler's Cove may be for you.

We stayed here several years ago. Perhaps it has changed! Positives: the view and the location. Negatives: the furniture was uncomfortable and ratty. The front room (with a nice view of the bay) is dominated by a hot tub. While a hot tub is a nice amenity, it takes up a huge space and is ever present as situated. We have not returned!
