The restaurant was closed, staff gone on vacation, no coffee pot in room, no hot water for two days, the one bedroom was just a large studio, microwave oven shorted out and the room smelled terrible for two days due to fumigation. Next door a 10 story high rise is under construction, about 25 feet from our building so construction noise all day long. It completely blocks the view on one side. No beach it was washed away last year, ten feet out from shore the bottom is sharp rocks.

One staff person continually tried to sell us another timeshare. He just would not quit. This is a problem about any place you go, even on the street. Mazatlan is a big city with big city problems. Trafic is heavy its like driving in New York or Hong Kong. I was hit by cars twice so keep a sharp eye when walking.

Food was incredible especially if you like shirmp and not expensive. The old town is quaint and is pretty much like it has always been because they haven't touristed up it yet. People friendly but dont speak much english. But if you try Mexican they smile and try to communicate.

"Comfort, style, and relaxation. That is what Villas El Rancho provides for us every year... This is definitely the ONLY place to stay in Mazatlan." (Source: TripAdvisor.com; Guest hometown: El Paso, Texas, USA)

It is not a typical hotel chain, it's more like our home in Mazatlan... It doesn't look like the huge hotel chains, it's decorated in a rustic Mexican style..." (Source: TripAdvisor.com; Guest hometown: Portland, Oregon, USA)

Horrible resort. Very run down, poor facilities. Had to move to another resort. Would not recommend to Americans. The so called restaurant is a shack on stilts. No air conditioning or elavators. The beach is dirty and there is nothing close. It doesnt look anything like the pictures!
