Not sure why people are giving this place the low reviews. I came here when I was a kid (30 years ago) and just started back last year. It is loved by my kids and they are excited to go back! I love being back after all of these years! Well worth it!

Did a Lot of work over the winter. The majority here are wholly owned with year round residents. This is a Great Family Beach Vacation Destination. Direct Ocean Access! ! !

Perfect for a family get away! The adults get to relax pool side or in the hot tub(s)! The kids get to swim in the ocean, indoor pool, outdoor pool, play basketball, tennis or shuffleboard.

We've been coming here for over 20 years with our kids and now our grandkids. For families, this spot is perfect. Its right on the beach, has a great pool for the kids, plus a nice open grassy area for them to play when its time to come off the beach. When it rains, there's even an indoor pool. As far as amenities, the resort also has a putt-putt course, tennis, basketball, and pickelball, and grills in the courtyard which we find very handy. The beach is fantastic and the proximity to Fort Macon, the NC Aquarium, and shops and restaurants is great. If you're looking for a world-class resort where your waited on hand and foot, this is not it. But, if you're looking for a family friendly spot for the family, I would highly recommend.

We own week 37 which is a week or two after Labor Day depending on the calendar. We have a 2 bedroom unit which has a washer and dryer in the unit. We have owned for 20 years. The weather has always been nice. It has everything to offer if you are looking for a family resort. Since hurricane Florence 2018 everything has been updated and they are in the process of building a new office. The beach is right there so you don't have to drive or walk across the street.

The perfect place for a family vacation. We have been going every summer for the past 4 years. Oceanfront resort with easy beach access and a great outdoor pool with a waterslide. Our kids spent 8 hours in the outdoor pool one windy day and had a blast! Mini golf is also on the premises and free. The rooms are not fancy, but comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Our family of 4 rented a one-bedroom unit this summer and had a great time! The furniture in the bedroom, other than the mattress, was a bit worn and the bathrooms needed a little TLC but there was nothing that would stop us from going there again. Having two full bathrooms was really nice. AND, I was told by the unit's owner that the one-bedroom units are getting gutted and remodeled this winter. The furniture and carpeting in the living room was already very nice. The kitchen was very narrow but my husband and I managed just fine and cooked a couple of dinners.

The unit can sleep 6 people but it was just the right size for 4 people. I think 6 would be too tight. There is the bedroom with a queen bed and the den had two twin beds with one being stored under the other. When both were in use, it was pretty tight but it didn't matter much.

Access to the beach was fantastic with boardwalks. They post a flag giving water conditions on the boardwalk which is nice especially when you have children to worry about when rip currents are likely. There were four showers, and four hoses I believe, on the boardwalk to rinse the sand and salt off before heading back to the unit. There is room in the hallways to put all your rinsed off beach gear too.

Low tide had tidal pools that let you see the smaller fish and mole crabs more easily. It was nice to sit in these pools. We had plenty of waves to jump at higher tides and none of them threatened to pulverize us. The children enjoyed the outdoor pool and its slide the most though.

There are just enough charcoal grills to use but the gas grills are really too inconvenient to get at if you're staying in the building with the 1-bedroom units. The picnic tables at the charcoal grills were in good condition and we enjoyed one dinner there.

If we get back to NC again next year, we'll choose this resort.

We were here 4 times in 2009 and 2010. Twice with our kids and grandkids. Everything has been redone - new hardi-plank siding, all new windows and sliding doors, new carpet and vinal, new LR furniture and flatscreen TV, free wifi. The baths and kitchens have not been re-done, but worked just fine. Management was on top of things while we were there. New elevators are great! Nice ocean views from most second and third floor units. The beach, the outdoor pool and waterslide were awesome for family fun. Units are not real fancy, but were clean, very comfortable and at a great location with beautiful well maintained grounds.

If you are looking for luxury, this isn't the place for you, however the unit that we were in was clean and the ocean and pool were great. I loved the fact that although there are things to do (aquarium, ferry rides, seafood restaurants), the crowds aren't bad and neither is traffic. The bed in our unit was hard and plan to wash towels or take extra. You only get towel and garbage service at the beginning of your stay. Overall, we enjoyed the resort and more importantly our kids loved it.

A Place at the Beach III has changed ownership to Tetterton Management Group and spruced up the place. They have painted and vinyl sided the units and the complex looks great !!!! I think the new management group has done a great job so far. I was down recently and they also have free wifi right now....that was an extra bonus. I am beginning to like it better than Peppertree.

Though this resort is a bit dated, it still was a fantastic vacation for my wife, mother and myself. We just returned (Oct. 16) and wish we were still there. Between the beautiful weather, being on the ocean and the wonderful pool we all had a great time.

Some of the units are in the process of being updated (completely), this looks like an ongoing project to keep the total resort in good shape. Staff was friendly as well as helpful.

This is not a full service resort (not a lot of planned activities) but it is ideal if you want a great time of relaxing, but still having enough to do. The outdoor pool is totally a delight, including a FUN waterslide for ALL. There is also an indoor pool with large hot tub (which we did not use becuase of the wonderful weather).

There are many activities in the area, all within a few minutes drive. The aquarium is totally updated and wonderful, Ft. Macon is a great historic place to visit, and tons of resturants, shops and such - you will never be bored (unless you want to be). We loved this place at the beach so much we bought a unit - that says it all.

We stayed here August 2005. Outdoor pool is great and short walk to beach.

Lots of steps if you stay on 3rd floor w/ large black bugs around in hallways and less frequently in your room.

Very nice and friendly too. Mixed use with 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units, some whole ownership as well as timeshare. Excellent recreational facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, water slide, hot tubs, tennis court, basketball court and lots and lots of sandy beach. Near historic Fort Macon and Atlantic Beach city pier area with plenty of activities around the clock.

I like the property.....very clean, quiet, right at the ocean. My units are on the 1st and 2nd floors, not far from each other............. just in case you wanted to vacation with family members but would also like a little privacy.

Being there Christmas Week was fine for me and my family really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

While the blizzard was raging in New York City Christmas Eve of 2002, we were enjoying the beautiful ocean breezes on Atlantic Beach. Christmas Morning dawned beautiful and sunny while New York was digging itself out.

Both units have ocean view which is always a plus. There is a playground for kids but because it wasn't exactly "hot" at that time, I don't think they enjoyed it much. There is also have a gameroom for the kids.

The second floor unit overlooks the pool.

The kitchen afforded us the opportunity to cook a complete Christmas dinner..........and we were able to eat comfortably.

The livingroom, though not huge, was really very light, airy and comfortable. The sofa opens up to sleep two. Off the livingroom is a bedroom with a high rise (which sleeps two) and closet space. You can close off that area during the day, if you wish. That goes for both units.

A Place at the Beach III is technically at or in Morehead City which (to me) appears to be a nautical town so you eat, drink, and think seafood which isn't a bad thing.

If you want 10 Star service, this is not the timeshare for you but if you want clean, quiet, beach atmosphere and want to sleep late, hide the clocks for a week, relax and enjoy your family away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is IT.

I would recommend this property anytime.

We were here in April 2007 and this is probably the worse place we have ever stayed. We had a great view of the ocean because we were on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately, with no elevators, after climbing 3 sets of stairs and going through 2 long corridors to get to our unit, we thought twice before we went out again in the same day. We got there at check in time, 4 PM and had to wait 2 hours for the maids to come clean the unit. I finally cleaned the refrigerator out myself so our food wouldn't spoil. The unit was filthy, even after it was cleaned. I tried to clean the windows, but they were so old and embedded with sand, it was impossible. The door frame around the sliding glass door going out to the deck was rotted so bad that the entire window had slipped down and someone stuffed a newspaper and plastic bag in it to keep out the drafts. The one screen on Master bedroom door was all rusted out and wouldn't stay on track. The door from the living room didn't even have a screen. The master bathroom smelled of smoke, must, and Ben Gay the whole week. The bed linens were mildewed and thread bare. The washer/dryer did not fit in the space it was set into, and you could not control the knobs because they rubbed even with the doors. Same with refridgerator, you had to open the door of the refrigerator in order to open the cupboard drawer to get something. There was no vacuum cleaner, only a hose?? There wasn't even a broom, but had 2 dustpans; go figure! The Ocean was beautiful because no one can mess that up, otherwise, we would have left the day we arrived. Never again, needs major work and new management.
