We own in Aruba and traded into other Marriotts (never stayed in a conversion) we would appreciate any feedback regarding the following. We recently traded into the Molaki Towers and loved the location but were surprised that the unit was not as fresh as most of the nonconversions we stayed at (Aruba, Grande Ocean, Williamsburg, etc.). We are thinking about buying a resale in Maui (not the new towers), do you think we were given a unit that needs refurburishing - or in your opinion - are the Maui conversions just a different animal?

In advance, thanks for your response.

There is an ongoing upgrade program, the exact status of which I don't know. We were shown an updated 1BR unit in the Molokai tower last April, it was very nice and bright.

As traders maybe you got an older unit perhaps ? Resale prices look pretty decent right now so good hunting :)

Paul,

Thank you for your response. I am sure you are correct. However, based upon the economy, airline fares, and most likely rising maintenance fees, we will probably sit on the sidelines for a while until these variables settle down. It appears prices are just starting to fall, and in my opinon, will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Therefore, patience is a buyer's ally.
