Renting from owners who are delinquent in dues - What does Marriott do & are renters protected?

If I rent and give money to an owner who is behind in their dues, does anyone know what Marriott does with the unit? Do they take it back? Am I, as a renter, protected knowing that upon arrival I will have a unit?
