Per the owner: I jumped at buying my Waikiki Beachwalk timeshare in 2007 just after the BeachWalk area was renovated. The location became and remains absolutely ideal for accessing Waikiki’s best beaches while at the same time providing a tourist convenient access to restaurants, beach bars, grocery stores and entertainment. Also, I have grown to appreciate over the years what Fort De Russy, the beachfront neighbor to the WEST, has added to vacation time at the resort. It is no longer a military installation housing active duty troops, as it did when I spent time there many years ago. It’s beach is now one of the least populated in Waikiki, and open to the public. Please read the following recent 2023 update about how it has changed. > Fort DeRussy is a United States military reservation in the Waikiki area of Honolulu, Hawaii under the jurisdiction of the United States Army. Unfenced and largely open to public traffic, the installation consists mainly of landscaped greenspace. The former Battery Randolph now houses the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, which is open to the public. The Hale Koa Hotel, an Armed Forces Recreation Center, and the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies are also located on Fort DeRussy.
