Great resort! We've been there twice now, both times in February for
skiing. The units are spacious, with excellent kitchens, bathrooms,
washer/dryer (needed for drying your wet hats, gloves, etc.). Many units
surround a golf course, so your kids can play in the snow right outside your
door. The drive to Wolf Creek Ski Area is about 30 - 45 minutes (very
beautiful drive). Wolf Creek is priced very reasonably, including the
lessons, and has great trails. To save yourself time, you can rent skis from
Alpen Haus right there on the Wyndham Pagosa property. It's just a few
dollars more, but when you get to the mountain, you avoid the lines for ski
rentals.
The town of Pagosa Springs has a great outdoor hot springs - what fun it is
to lounge around in the hot springs with snow all around you! Also, on days
you choose to chill at the resort, you can go over to the fitness center and
swim in the indoor pool, and play raquetball or basketball. Unfortunately,
only adults are allowed on the fitness equipment.
A huge grocery store is only a mile away, and there are litterally dozens, if
not a hundred restaurants in town. Oh, and you can even go sledding on a
hill just a few miles from the resort. Don't forget your sleds! Or pick some
up in Santa Fe, NM.
