  • Perennial Vacation Club at Eagle's Nest

    Stateline, Nevada

Perennial Vacation Club at Eagle's Nest is a skier's paradise. Situated next to the high-speed quad Stagecoach lift at Heavenly, North America's largest ski area, these timeshare accommodations are the perfect base for your Nevada getaway. In the summer months, enjoy easy access to the Tahoe Rim Trail for exhilarating hiking and biking.

Enjoy mountain or lake views from your studio, one-, or two-bedroom unit. Studio units sleep two to four with a king bed and queen sleeper sofa. One- bedroom units sleep four with a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa. Two-bedroom units sleep six with a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen or two twin beds in the guest bedroom, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living area. One- and two-bedroom units are equipped with a full-size kitchen and jacuzzi tub. Enjoy the common area lounge, concierge desk, and handy elevator to take you back to your room after a long day on the mountain.

In Lake Tahoe you can test your luck on the slopes or in the many casinos. Hop the California/Nevada state line by simply crossing the street or skiing to the other side of the mountain. Regardless of the time of year, there is plenty to do, both indoors and out, in Lake Tahoe.

This place is the only true ski in/out at Heavenly. Get 400 vert skiing down the stagecoach chair and then ski back the to lot. It is at 7800 ft elevation. Nice place to relax and have a drink at Billy's bar!

We are owners and have stayed here twice in the summer months. Initially we thought the facility "lacked curb appeal" but what we found was our 2 bedroom suite had custom paint and very current decor. The staff is also very gracious and friendly and this gives Eagles Nest that unique small B&B feel.

What we like most about this resort is it's proximity to hiking and biking trails. My husband an avid mountain bike rider, was able to catch the trail within a couple of minutes of leaving the room. We also utilized the "pass" to the beach club. Even though it was a little cold (early June) it was a great facility. We own a Marriott timeshare as well and we enjoy Eagles Nest just as much. Eagles Nest allows us to get away from the hustle and bustle and the views are incredible. Besides, it is a very short drive to town if you need anything or wish to dine out.

Location is what makes this resort distinctive among Tahoe area resorts. It is located at the very top of the mountain, at the end of the road, so the view to towards the lake is unencumbered by anything other than a pleasant forest of pines. Its quiet location may be a disadvantage to some wanting to be in the thick of things of the Stateline casinos and nightlife, but for us, the location was perfect.

Our one bedroom, second floor unit was on the back of the building, facing the west, so we had a nice view of the Lake Tahoe basin. Units on the east side had a view of the Carson Valley. It was nicely decorated and adequately furnished, but the built-in cabinets were in need of refinishing. The dark décor was not helped by the layout of the unit, which had no windows in the living room which doubled as the sleeping area for a second couple. This was a serious drawback, since our stay was in mid August and was during a hot spell. The unit lacked air conditioning, so the only way to get fresh evening air into the living/sleeping room was by using the furnished box fan and leaving the front door open. A sliding glass door into the main bedroom provided access to a small balcony and the only view from the unit other than the windows above the Jacuzzi tub in the three section bathroom.

The kitchen was well equipped for preparing and serving meals, but severely lacked counter and cupboard space. There was only room for a coffee maker to the left of the full sized range and less than four inches to the sink on the right of the stovetop. All the cupboard space was taken up by pots, pans and other equipment, so we had to store our non-perishable items on top of the refrigerator or on the floor around the dining room which would have benefited greatly by the addition of a sideboard.

We had a chance to peek in other units and the studios were laid out a little better but had a totally inadequate kitchen. The two bedroom units were spacious and had much more useful space in the kitchen.

The resort was very quiet during the non-skiing season and was not occupied to capacity. There was a small bar that was open for very limited hours and no restaurants on the premises. The reception desk was only staffed during the day except on check-in days when it was staffed until 8:00 PM. Late check-ins are handled by a lockbox, accessed by calling a customer service number from the foyer phone. There were no planned activities provided by the resort, but literature for local activities and attractions were provided. A paid shuttle bus to town (Stateline, NV and South Lake Tahoe, CA) has a stop very near the resort, starting in the afternoon and running late into the evening. Otherwise a car is a necessity. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Gas barbeques were available on the large communal deck. Free WI-FI was available throughout the building so accessing the Internet from our unit was trouble free. There was a free laundry located at the end of the hall and they even provided free laundry detergent; something I have never seen provided before. The pool and hot tub are shared by a community of other buildings, but wasn’t overly crowded. It is about half a mile from the resort, down a steep grade. No towels are provided.

Our stay was pleasant and comfortable and the unit served our purposed well except for the deficiencies in the kitchen and ventilation.
