Marriott's Barony Beach Club Reviews & Ratings

Great family resort - no need to go off the property unless compelled. Daily programs for children - access to the beach (less than 3 minutes from your front door).

We just returned from a week August 18 - 25, 2007. We would definitely go there again. We were directly ocean front and the breeze while we were sitting on the balcony was great! Lots to do for all ages. Our nine year old loved the pool. The teenagers had plenty to do. We went to Savannah, went on a dolphin and crabbing tour, ate at the "Sea Shack" , took a golf clinic at Port Royal, rented bikes. A good time was had by all.

We own an Oceanside unit which we take in the first week of the Platinum season - just after Memorial Day weekend. This time of year is just begining to get a little busy with the first wave of school kids getting out in many parts of the country. It is 85 - 90 degress warm, sea breeze by the water keeps you comfortable and the water is perfect. We were placed in the Sea Oat building which had recently been refurbished and was in great condition. We suggest you try for either this or the Live Oak building. The other two main buildings will probably get their updates in the next slow season (?) We've been coming here since 2001 and still love the place - first class in every respect. Great beach, close to golf, close to restaurants and any necessary shopping. Port Royal Plantation location is ideal - mid island.

Just returned and are planning on returing next year. Stayed in the Garden Villa units and enjoyed it very much. It was a small walk to the beach but we understood that before we reserved the week. We have also stayed at Grande Ocean and other that the greater distance to the beach, they were very compareable.

We are just winding up our week now (Oct 22, 2005). We are in an oceanview unit, which has not been updated with marble counters and new furniture. However, the place is in perfect condition, and has recently been painted. I am very impressed with the maintenance of the facility. This is a great resort, with fun activities, a great beach, close to stores. This time of year we can get to Sea Pines in 10 minutes by car (by bike, it's very far). We toured 5 other Marriotts here, and liked this one the best. No internet yet, but I think they have to have it in the next couple months. Other than that, Barony is just perfect. Staff has been super friendly. The smaller resort might help in that regard. Every night here we slept like bricks in dead silence, even on the "old" Marriott 4" mattress. This has been a real vacation.

This was our first visit to HHI (our home resort is Cypress Harbour in Orlando). We were VERY impressed! We do plan on coming back...

We were there from 9/24 to 10/1 of 2005, and it was great. Barony Beach definitely maintains the Marriott tradition of great service. The 2 bedroom units were spacious and well maintained, and when we did have a couple of minor issues, the maintenance staff handled them that day.

The Concierge (Nettie) was very helpful and knowledgeable. Be sure to take the afternoon sail with the schooner "Welcome". What an enjoyable time!!! (www.schooner.net) There were plenty of activities for all ages at the resort.

We stayed in a building that was behind the oceanfront building (Sea Oats). It was no problem walking to the beach, and there were plenty of nice pools and hot tubs if you don't like salt water. I've seen some complaints about the "garden" units being too far away from the beach. We spent some time over there, and I have a different view... It was very quiet in that area, and only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The butterfly garden was a nice touch.

I'm a picky person... And the ONLY complaint I have was no hi speed internet as yet. In the grand scheme of things, that's pretty minor.

A beautiful island, and a beautiful resort...

Great location, close to the beach. The garden villas are only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, but Marriott has extended golf carts to shuttle people back and forth.

Villas have everything you need for a great family vacation, typical of Marriott. Pools are great, outdoor barbecues worked fine. Maintenance staff responded within 15 minutes to minor issue.

Location on island is OK. Harbourtown is 20 minutes away, Shelter Cove Marina only 5-10 minutes.

One downside is that Marriott doesn't include any rounds of golf at this particular timeshare. There are 3 complete 18-hole courses 1/4 mile away at the Port Royal Golf Club.

Overall, this is a great resort and I look forward to returning.

This is a great resort. As someone who has been vacationing on HHI for almost 30 years I will say this is my favorite resort to date.

Barony speaks of "Old Hilton Head" in the 70's and 80's. By that I mean the beach is nice, clean, safe and not over crowded. North Forest Beach was like this in the past (by Marriott's Grande Ocean and the Holiday Inn).

Pool is perfect for toddlers and young children with its huge sun shade umbrella in the shallow section with a zero depth walk-in entry to the pool. There is a kiddie pool and the perennial child favorite: The Turtle Fountain!

The Staff is great and everyone keeps the Barony clean and in order.

My Mother,daughter-in-law,my two grandchildren and I stayed at Barony Beach for fall break last year and I would rate it five star all the way. The bathrooms are large and have a step-in shower for a elderly person who cannot get into a tub. AS I viewed my family, I knew they would be Marriott all the way and never want to stay anywhere else ,again. I love the soaking tub myself and the jets worked wonderfully on my back after driving. We had oceanfront and the only problem we had was the building to the left of us had a noisy generator during the night if you were out on your lanai or balcony. I hope they fixed it by now. I believe that was another condo,not Marriott. Marriott is wonderful. Vacation clubs will spoil you. Sherrie Moore

We were very disappointed with our stay here. Long walk to the beach, it felt more like down the street then on the beach.pain with 4 kids. pools not heated except one small one which was over crowded. Kids activities director needs to be replaced with someone that likes kids!

We bought a timeshare at this location before ground was broken. We have never wanted to exchange our week for any place else! We enjoy the tranquil pristine beach, gorgeous Mariott property and a friendly gracios staff wanting to make this a vacation of a lifetime for ALL who visit.

Planned activities that children can enjoy each and everyday. Golf, tennis, delicious dining, Harbour Town and much much more. Savannah, Charleston and Beaufort are just a short drive. Whether you enjoy golf, tennis, biking, hiking, sun, surf or just plain relaxing HHI is the place.

We love it so much...we bought another timeshare week at Surf Watch. Try HHI you WILL be glad you did!!!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous resort. Right on the beach. Huge condo. Relaxing. Go to Savannah. Go to relax , not much to do in Hilton Head.

This is one of the most beautiful, spacious resorts I have seen and stayed so we decided to buy a timeshare when it was being built. Since then, we only used it twice because of the great exchange opportunity to stay in other resorts. Great outdoor activities; shopping; dining, etc. The villas are nicely decorated; large kitchen; dining room, clean, too. We always take friends and families from out-of-town to spend a day swimming; barbecuing, biking, etc.

Wonderful accomodations on-site. Health Club, Resturants, Pools - all very nice. Very good location in the middle of the island.

The view from the oceanfront villas is exquisite. The units are large and well appointed. Activities are plentiful and the staff is friendly and competent.

This is a very nice Marriott Resort located on superb beachfront property. There are several outdoor pools as well as an indoor pool and spa area. Many activities for the kids. A great place for families to vacation.

Golf, shopping, bike trails, Putt-putt, beach, tennis, restaurants, and children's fun park are all close. Highly recommended.

Just returned and the resort is wonderful. Pools are great and beach is clean. Staff very friendly and honest. My husband left his wedding band and housekeeping returned it. Thumbs up and would definetely return!!! Garden villas are a bit of a walk if you have children, expecially at the end of the day. Would stay oceanside next time.

Wonderful resort located on the beach. Two pools, great hot tubs. Very clean and new units that are tastefully decorated. Will not go wrong to visit or purchase here! High Marriott standards!
