Kenmore is probably the best sited timeshare
resort in Scotland, up in Perthshire.
The resort is fairly small, although it has been
extended lately, and the lesiure facilities are
adequate but not extensive. But the site is
stunning, and Kenmore village is only five
minutes walk away.
We have stayed four or five times, and are
going again in October 03, and it's the sort of
place where you do not even mind doing what
you have done before: there is a superb 3
hour walk along to Taymouth Castle (a golf
club, and big Castle) and along the banks of
the River Tay.
Plenty of interesting Castles and mountain
walks and watersports at hand, and a good
base to explore other parts of Scotland,
although frankly there is quite enough to do
within a few miles radius.
We originally had a week here in October,
upgraded it to an August peak week, and then
converted to Grand Vacation Club points,
which has worked well for us although I know
it is not universally popular. This year we
have had 22 nights family accommodation for
seven nights worth of maintenance fee.
A car is necessary - we tried it once without by
using the train to Pitlochry, but buses only go
to Aberfeldy, and from then on you are limited
to the school bus (available to others, but
does not run in school holidays) and the small
postbus that collects the letters.
By the way, the reason there are no units for
sale or rent is that most owners want to make
use of them themselves!
