In Winter, if you can leave your fire you may like to ski one of Tongariro National Parks mountain slopes. The geothermal area of Rotorua is only one hour's drive away, thermal activity and geysers can be viewed. Other popular pursuits are whitewater rafting, canoeing, waterskiing or parasailing.
