Villa Vera Puerto Isla Mujeres Hotel Marina & Beach Club

Villa Vera / Puerto Isla Mujeres Hotel Marnia and Beach Club; located about 2 miles out of town, next to a marina. Jan 2007 for one week. Loved it and will be back !

Friendly good staff, the hotel is a gated property, largest pool on the island, very pleasant intimate setting. The hotel is horse- shoe shaped around the pool, facing the marina. There are about 4 villas, 14 suites and several rooms. The villa has an upstairs deck with hot tub, but I did not even fill it up as the weather was warm and the pool fabulous.

The downstairs patio's have hammocks to enjoy. Never an issue getting a lounger with umbrella at the pool here ! This is a family place, also great for couples.. no big party scene here !

The hotel provides complimentary transportation to Zama Beach Club, where there is an eatery, swimming pool and sand/surf. The ocean is calm here but has some sea grass.

Nice kitchen, dining area and living room with fold out bed that was comfy ! Housekeeping was fab, always clean.

The staff arranged a golf cart rental for the week and a trip to Chichen Itza. drive your golf cart to Playa Del Norta, the north beach for a treat. You can walk out 1/4 mile and the water is only to your waist.

Downtown has some great places to eat , grocey store and shopping. In the eve local families gather in the town square, kids playing and lots of cooking.

This is a friendly and lovely resort. However, it is getting run down and they need to do alot of upgrading. Unlike the other Regina facilities the first floor units have tile lanais.. There were old and broken decks and the public buildings (?store) were closed down, deck jacuzzis on the second floors had been off for a long time. . These are large hotel sized rooms, no kitchens. with "bathtubs with jets", ours did not work.. There is not a beach here, the "beach club" is a free motor boat ride acros the lagoon and the beach is shallow, the pools were not filled in NOV so check carefully. There is alot of seaweed and the water is really not swimable. It all kind of works for a pleasant stay, isla is a nice get away, but this is not the Westin. I sent a letter to the management and never heard back.
