My family: Myself, wife, and 2 daughters (17/13). 4/16-4/23 Vacation
We are owners at Sheraton Vistana but due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to stay at a different resort for the first time in 10 years.
Overall first impression was WOW, this is a fantastic place. Great location.
2nd impression: Check-In was terrible. I'll explain.
We drove from Michigan and arrived at 10:30AM, prepared to spend the day at the pool prior to 4PM check-in. We did not expect to check in early but it would have been nice. However, the desk person took my cell number and told us that he would call AROUND 4PM when our room was ready. We went shopping for groceries and returned at 4:30. No call yet. 90+ degrees outside and we have eggs, milk, etc....
I explained to the desk person that check-in was supposed to be at 4PM and he only said that the room wasn't ready yet and they were really busy on Saturdays. We had to be patient. So then I had to complain about how that was unacceptable and I wanted to speak with someone else. He went into a back room and after 5 minutes came out and told us that another room was ready and we could get that one. Not a fireworks view like we requested, but pool view which was just fine.
Other than the check-in experience, the resort was first rate. The pools and lazy rivers were nice, and we enjoyed the walks around the lake. My opinion is that the main pools at Sheraton Vistana pools are bigger and you can actually move around. Same with the hot tubs. Also, the Vistana fitness center is better. For a resort as big as BC, the fitness center was way undersized.
Overall, I really liked this resort. The rooms were HUGE and the kids had their own bedroom with full size beds. The kitchen appliances were new and even the knife set was high end. The shower/bathroom was enormous. Bottom line: if you have kids, the bedrooms are far enough apart that you won't hear what's going in their rooms and they won't hear what's going on in yours. It feels like a house.
I would stay here again. Note: The timeshare pressure was on as usual, but to beat them this time we tried a new approach. Agree to attend right away and then don't show up. It worked great and they never called again. Sounds bad, but those people are relentless and annoying.
