This is my second trip to SurfWatch. This resort is outstanding, and becomes more beautiful as the landscape matures. This an ideal family resort. You see many multi-generation families enjoying the beautiful beach.

Everyone here works hard to make sure you have an enjoyable vacation.

My family stayed here during Thanksgiving week and we had a wonderful time. There was lots to do, children had fun activities and there is great shopping at Hilton Head. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to be pampered, the employees are very helpful and accommodating. Even though we had a full house (11 people), we didn't feel closed in. The 3 bedroom is very nice with lots of kitchen equipment. We did a unconventional Thanksgiving, we had a oyster roast which was wonderful. There is a place on the resort where you can cook oysters outside. Definitely will do this again.

We stayed the week of March 15th. The weather was in the mid 70's most of the week. The rooms are very nice with Sony TV's and heavenly beds! The beach is very nice and just a short walk. The staff does a great job with daily activities for the kids. There are three heated pools with jacuzzi's. Wireless Internet is availble. We had a very good week overall and will make Hilton Head our favorite spring break location for years to come.

Outstanding property. We looked at many properties in Hilton Head over the years , focusing on Mariott given their reputation and quality. Surfwatch was the best by far. The Northern part of the island does not have the density of visitors that the southern part (forest drive). The facility is new and very family friendly. The Beach is not very crowded compare to south of Surfwatch. This was true even when we visited over fourth of July the past two years. We loved it so much we bought two units and come back for at least one week every year. Highly recommended.

Stayed in our gardenside 2 BR unit in Oct. during a perfect weather week. For us, the walk along the trails and boardwalk was no problem and there was always cart service when we needed it (going and returning). Despite another posting, there was free high speed Internet access and one evening there was live music at the oceanfront bar and pool which is spectacular. I've stayed at other "oceanside" resorts where the walk was comparable. Take the time to stop and admire the plants and waterfowl from the boardwalk. Many vistors used the outdoor grill areas while we were there and we enjoyed the tranquility of our gardenside unit. Staff was courteous, friendly and very accommodating and the units themselves are fantastic.

Just completed a stay in unit 5513 on 12/9 to 12/15/07. The 2 br unit was spacious and well appointed. Lots of trees and walking paths. The master had a huge rainforest shower that didn't have a curtain or door to cover it. Well maintained. This is listed as an oceanfront resort, but actually the ocean is 300+ yards away. Golfs carts are available to take you to the oceanfrnt cabanas. In the offseason the cabanas are free - there is a charge during the busy season. Internet service is avaliable at 35 cents per minute.

The hotel rooms are brand new and beautifully decorated. I found the walk to the beach to be ridiculous especially with two small children. The shuttle is not always readily available, and with a garden view the walk is time consuming and difficult for small feet. Also the pool closer to the ocean is too small. There is no music or bar at the larger pool. Their are few umbrellas (about 7) around the periphery of that pool, so you have to sit in the sun if you want to keep a close eye on your smaller children, or else wake up early and put a towel on an "umbrella" spot. Overall, I would not recomment this resort. It really is not oceanfront. It is akin to the 2nd and 3rd row homes.

Resort is beautiful. The only thing that is important to note is that none of the buildings are direct oceanfront. The oceanview building is closest, but you have to walk (or use the courtsy golf court shuttle) to the oceanfront pool (which is amazing) or beach. Not a big deal for some, but if you have small children you need to plan for this. The grounds are beautiful and the units are top of the line. There was a cold front (April 6-8) when we were there, but the oceanfront pool was heated (very warm). Great when you were in (hard to get out), and the walk back, or should I say run, was freezing.

Unbelievable resort. We own two weeks and will buy more when we can afford it. The pool out by the ocean is spectacular; for some reason it always makes me think of Shangri-La.

The villas themselves are gorgeous. Fully equipped kitchen, and I mean fully equipped - you could cook a Thanksgiving dinner here without having to buy anything but the food. Stacked washer and dryer. Master bedroom shares a balcony with the living room in the unit we were in. Master shower is huge, with a few wall mounted jets, which i love. Bathroom vanities are very up to date, they are the new style that look like a nice dresser with a sink inset into the top.

Service is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful.

You can rent bikes ridiculously cheaply, something like $25 for the entire week and they have bikes for all sizes, including ones with training wheels and a few of those carts for really little ones that attach to bikes.

We stayed at the resort from July 29 - August 5, 2005. The entire resort is very much a work in progress, but the parts that are open are your typical high quality Marriott.

We were in a 3-bedroom unit that was very nice. The pools were great. The beach was quite a walk away from our villa, however golf carts were always quickly and readily available to carry guests back and forth to the beach--this was a huge benefit. The beach was very clean, wide and under crowded. Another benefit--because there is only one villa open, there were never any crowds at the pools.

A couple of things that were missing: a grill (or food service) at the pool and high speed internet access. Also missing was a shower curtain in the master suite. The shower itself was terrific--4 shower heads in a spacious shower, however it is basically wide open. To get privacy, you have to close the door to your room.

Overall it was a really great place and when it is finished it is going to be fantastic.

Before I went to this resort, I couldn't find any pictures of it so I took a bunch of pictures for future guests to check out (see link below).

Beautiful resort! I know that grand ocean and barony are older resorts, but Surf watch is defantally the best by far. The ocean view really is an ocean view. The only reason we want to sell is beacause we are buying a perminate second home on Hilton head and we don't need the use of a time share anymore.

I was in Hilton Head recently and looked at the land where this complex is being built, as well as the progress of the first two buildings. This will be a premiere first class resort, built by the Ritz I believe. The location is surrounded by $4-$6 million dollar homes, many which are new. I was impressed with the land and privacy due to the wetlands around the property, and the amazing amenities that are planned. I own at Grande Ocean and now Surfwatch (2), and look forward to enjoying a 3 bedroom with family.
