The extraordinary 5* Westin Nanea Ocean Villas Resort is one of the most eco-friendly resort properties in Maui, receiving the GOLD New Construction Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Opened in April 2017, Nanea (na-neh-ah) - meaning “relaxation” in Hawaiian - has eight six-story buildings on 26 acres of Maui's North Kā‘anapali Beach, including a ten-acre park. It was designed by local architects and infused with a variety of Hawaiian design elements, which includes an established Hawaii Cultural Center replete with culturally inspired programs and authentic Hawaiian experiences.
This resort is located on powdery white-sanded shores with incredible snorkeling right in front of the hotel, just steps from your villa. The active coral reef is home to an abundance of tropical fish and honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles). From December to March is peak whale season so humpback whales regularly breach the water’s surface. In addition, this week falls during the perfect time for the babies to be born - you can sometimes see the whales and their offspring swimming or breaching together in the water from your balcony or the beach!
The resort includes a picturesque 10,000 sq ft lagoon-style pool, with an upper pool, a children’s pool and slide/play area, two plunge pools and oceanfront cabanas. A full-service restaurant offers an enticing menu of Hawaiian and international cuisine, plus the Westin brand’s signature SuperFoodsRX® menu with nutrient-rich and delicious options. There is also a pool-side restaurant and bar and several community BBQs. Amenities include a Westin WORKOUT® fitness studio. Situated next to Nanea are both the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas North and the original Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, so you can take advantage of their amenities as well, including WKORVN’s cool kids pirate ship pool and Helani Spa, a Westin Heavenly Spa.
Nanea is walking distance to Aina Gourmet Market and Duke's Beach House and Black Rock restaurants as well as an easy drive to Honolua Bay, Napili Bay, Kapalua, Whaler's Village, and Lahaina town. In fact, there is a free air-conditioned resort shuttle with five stops that runs every 30 minutes to Whaler's and Lahaina (very cute shopping, restaurants and a Safeway grocery store). There are also a number of food trucks in the area. An extensive beach walk goes right into Kaanapali - enjoy viewing the islands of Lanai and Molokai on the way to or from dinner! A car is really only needed if you wish to explore the island on your own and can be rented at the resort (or use Turo). Wonderful experiences like adventure rafting, helicopter tours, parasailing, scuba diving, zip lining and a Wailele Polynesian luau can all be booked with the concierge and often pick up at the resort.
The villas are gorgeous and roomy with full kitchens. Every convenience you would want!
