We stayed at Orange Lake in July 2005 it was our
second exchange after 10 years ( we own )
elsewhere and the first for some relatives that
came with us.
The resort has obviously grown in that time and
we did notice the differences.
We requested in advance two 2 bed units side by
side and they did exactly that. Both units where
in the west village and within walking distance
of the Splash Lagoon area
Check- in was a breeze. Our units was clean and
nicely furnished. Had a few small maintenance
problems like the fly screen dropped down ( but
as we walked around the complex we saw plenty
others that seem to have the same problem.
And the stove had perhaps seen better days as
some of the rings did not work.
Our children enjoyed the pool areas and their
was lots of different pool sizes that catered to
the vary young ones and the even the adults in
our party.
We played tennis and the courts were almost
always empty. And also got two rounds of golf in
at Cranes Bend which was fun.
The only downside we found was that for Splash
Lagoon unless you got down there say before 10am
as always overcrowded and it was nearly
impossible to find some seats within sight of
the pool so that you can keep your eye on your
kids).
The same could be said of the some of the other
pools, but as the heat was immense at Midday
getting down there by 10am suited us.
We suspect that the overcrowding will no doubt
be relieved somewhat when the new water park
complex opens later in 2006.
My only real compliant was the constant
telephone calls from the sales folks, they
called 7 times with 4 of them being before 8am
in the morning.
We decided to take them up on their offer as we
are considering purchasing. And although they
said that the presentation would only take an
hour and that they would talk to us whilst we
ate our free breakfast. The whole thing lasted 3
hours!!.
Luckly we had a sense of humour and actually had
decided in advance that the day would be a hang
around the complex. So as a result we where not
too annoyed and at the point where we had had
enough we simply said No thanks and took our
coupons and went.
Its a very big resort and if you just wanted to
stay at the resport then there is lots to do.
All in all in spite of the few complaints, our
family enjoyed our visit and will come back in
the future and in fact we are going to purchase
a unit at this resport via Redweek.
