We absolutely loved our stay at Newport Coast! Architecturally, this resort is like going to Tuscany without a 10-hour flight. The entire facility is well maintained and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The location is above a beautiful California State Park beach. Shopping, amusement parks, great restaurants and more are a short drive away.

Incredible resort! Views of the ocean from our unit and many areas of the property. Tons of amenities: tennis, work out facilities, ping pong, several pools, jacuzzis, entertainment at the main pool daily, spa, on-site market, movie rentals, shuttle to Crystal Cove, 20 minutes to Disneyland, minutes to Newport Beach and Balboa Island, basketball courts, kids playground, putting green. Adjacent to Pelican Hill Golf Course.

    Truly a gem!

Go during August when the Laguna Fine Arts Festival and Sawdust Festival are in full gear...super fun. And Laguna has amazing restaurants, wine bars and shops

True heaven on earth. The best resort in California, possibly entire USA. Believe me there are people who will rate Heaven 1 star. They will find something to stone this Paradise. Don't get disillusioned by negative nay sayers. We have stayed at this resort numerous times since 2000. and will be back many more times. We have travelled and stayed at many resorts across the globe. Can not beat this resort: the location, the view, the weather, the people, the accommodations, the amenities, the service and the variety of entertainment options surrounding communities offer. It is a gem.

By far this is our favorite place to visit in California. The condo's are beautiful. Whoever wrote the review and rated a 1 star obviously must have had a one off visit as this is truly a 5 Star resort. I try to go once a year to this location.

This hotel is not great and there are a lot of negatives here front desk checkin is strictly at 4:00pm not earlier, the pools are so crowded you will not get a spot in summer unless you put towels out early morning. The rooms are very noisy and we had kids running upstairs all night long so there was no peace and quite here for us. We had a road view room with busy traffic going by all night long so we actually had to leave the TV on to sleep with everything going on here! The positive is that it is a kid friendly resort where you can let your kids go wild but you may will not get much relaxation here at all. You will need a car because everything is super spread out. We flew in and Ubered everywhere and that was a mistake you really need a car here. This is a run of the mill timeshare resort with ocean views for some. They want to sell timeshare points and I guess people get suckered into that poor investment. You can rent the place on redweek.com for most weeks for less than the yearly maintenance fees they charge on their timeshares and you can then get the weeks you want as the owners I spoke with said it's very tough to book the time you want if you own here. You have to call 12-13 weeks ahead if you are an owner and it's typically all filled up in the first 3 min. But there are folks who like it I guess. My 9 year old liked the pools but they were so crowded it was crazy.

Marriott informed us that this is their #2 resort (after Ko' olina, HI), and we agree (we own both). This resort is centrally located to great beaches and towns (Huntington's Surf City, Seal Beach, Crystal Cove, Laguna Beach), theme parks (Disney Land, Medieval Times and Knotts are 30 minutes away), Universal Studios (60 min), LegoLand (60 Min), San Diego's Balboa Park/Zoo, Sea World, Old Town (90 Min). Great shopping (Costa Mesa, Fashion Island, Laguna Beach). In the summer time, don't forget the Sawdust Festival (a wonderful craft, art, jewelry fair with live music) and Pageant of the Masters and the Art Festival. Great for beach biking, kayaking, SCUBA, surfing, or just hanging out...

We own six weeks here and are shopping for a seventh, so we have "voted with our feet" on this place. In addition to what most reviewers have praised, its location just a few minutes north of Laguna Beach, with its many restaurants, art galleries, and classic beaches, and just south of Costa Mesa, an upscale beach town, featuring Fashion Island, means you are never isolated. Free internet, several huge pools and spas, what else could you want? Replying to a reviewer who found their room in need of a remodel, many of the units are newly remodeled and redecorated.

I have been to many Marriott Resorts, but the location of this one sets it apart from the others. The view from our balcony overlooked the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. There are many activities on the property if you choose to participate. The Beachcomber Restaurant at Crystal Cove Beach is a must do. The food is delicious. Also, for Italian food, visit Modo Mia Cuccina in the Crystal Cove Shopping Center. The food is very reasonably priced and VERY GOOD. Marriott gives you a discount card to some area restaurants, and these two are included. Laguna Beach was fun and the resort has a shuttle there. The shuttle also runs to Crystal Cove Beach and Crystal Cove Shopping Center. Also, Balboa Island and Newport Beach are great and very close. Also went to Fashion Island to Great Maple .. best French dip sandwich I have ever had. Melted in my mouth. It's so convenient to many places. But, be prepared. It's build on hills and the walking could be difficult for some people. There is a shuttle that runs around the property as well.

Marriott seems to learn more from the owners with each new resort. Most units have nice view of the Pacific. The villas and grounds are well maintained.

As with all resorts, an automobile is a necessity. For the adventerous, driving to Big Sur to the North and San Diego to the South are nice day trips.

Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills are easy drives. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and San Juan Capristino are also easy drives.

The neary-by beaches and hills provide an abundance of nature.

We are fans of the many restaurant options; and one of our favorites is the Landry's at Dana Point.

This was one of the worst timeshares I've ever been to. We had a 2bedroom villa that was dirty, needed total renovation and when we opened the dishwasher there were no prongs left on top to hold glasses and such. The kitchen faucet was broken and every seam in the carpeting had seam lines coming apart. Probably the biggest problem for me was the moldy smell within the unit. I left an extremely negative review on Trip Advisor as well as letting the management and Marriott know what we found. This resort should be an embarrassment to Marriott.

This is a beautiful location overlooking the pacific. It's a 20 minute walk to the beach, downhill. The resort is isolated from the town, but there's free shuttles (advised since parking is an issue in many areas. A great mall is within a 10 minute drive, just avoid the rush hour which is tedious when on vacation.

There are no restaurants on site other beach stuff. A few minutes towards Laguna Beach is an old hamburger joint overlooking he Ocean, but you'll need a nice day to enjoy and there are plenty of those at NewPort.

There are over 150 units. Ask for a quiet area, which are often available, and face the ocean, for early morning sun and breakfast on the balcony!

We're not an owner here, but elsewhere. This is in my top 5 for overall experience. The only thing to improve on is having a Marriott Resort near...no chance of that happening.

This to me is a 4.5 star resort. The location on the bluff and the ocean views are hard to beat. My main complaints are the fact that the "Grill" and "marketplace" , onsite eateries are small and not like other Marriott's vacation Club resorts. A restaurant would be nice to sit down and unwind at the end of the day. The "Grill" is a pool bar. For the most part the grounds are clean and well kept, but the trash cans in the units are small and the trash dumpsters are not necessarily in convienant places. The trash cans outside the condos have a tendency to fill up with people's trash from their kitchen because they dont know what to do with it. Overall I would recommend the Newport Coast to anybody. It is peaceful, has plenty to offer, and the views are amazing. Just make sure you rent a car because you will drive to most places.

This place is amazing! We have been owners for 10 years, and have come to this resort every year! So excited to come, and NEVER want to go home. We usually bring our kids and grands, but now they are owners too. Peaceful location, but near things if you want, beach, Disney, San Diego even Hollywood. Place is usually very clean, and workers friendly and accommodating. If at all possible yes, avoid the month of July......very over crowded. Market place is small, needs to be updated and expanded. A restaurant would be fabulous, besides the snack bar, but guess not going to happen. The Pelican Hill resort across the street has wonderful restaurants, and the BEST homemade gelato. We return year after year and enjoy every moment. We have gone to many Marriotts and this is one of the best. Enjoy your vacation!

I visited Newport Coast two years in a row. The timeshare property has just spectacular views and lovely large well decorated suites. The Marriott staff goes a step beyond with their impeccable service. I loved the location so much that I bought a timeshare every other year. I travel with the Marriott organization a great deal. I find Newport Coast Villas to be a very special place in my heart amongst those travels. A great location to gather with family and friends!
