Having purchased 2 weeks (one via REDWEEK), my wife and I are extremely satisfied. While the maintenance fees are a bit high, the grounds are impeccably landscaped and maintained (if you get up early enough you can see workers sweeping sidewalks, cleaning chairs, picking up cigarrette butts EVERYDAY). Our view (Oceanview...usually 4th floor or higher in the Molokai tower) is fantastic because you can see all of the beautiful landscaping and the ocean/beach as well. The resort is well situated (along the Kaanapali beach strip) and within walking distance to Whaler's village. The pools and slides are a great way to enjoy yourself (and we always see a few "party crashers" who can crowd the pools at times). My only complaint for the grounds is that they don't have a handle on chairs and thus you can find yourself searching for an empty chair in the middle of the day. As for the rooms, they are comfortable and fairly updated (my complaint here is that they should have a larger refrigerator). Overall though, this has to be one of the better maintained resorts in a good location (hence, their occupancy rate and their "owner return" rate is pretty high)! The pictures you see at their website are not fake -- it really looks this wonderful ! We last visited in July 2010.

Rented a 2 bedroom ocean front week of May 9th from Odette and Edgar S. at a very reasonable rate. Could not be more pleased with the rental transaction, resort hospitality, service and cleanliness. Lots of restaurants and shopping in walking distance at Whalers Village. The America Cup II sailing adventure was a blast, http://www.hawaiiactive.com/activities/maui-america-two.html and the Old Lahaina Luau is the best food and entertainment tradition on the island http://www.oldlahainaluau.com/photogallery.html.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom lockout March 2010. Loved it. The facilities are great. We also stayed one week at Marriotts Lahaina Villas which was very, very nice, but actually prefer this one because it had 3 bathrooms (although no kitchen). There are six of us, and we were very comfortable. Could easily have squeezed more in. We bought boogie boards at Kmart our first day and used them a lot. Loved this location, and we loved snorkeling at Black Rock every other day- so incredible and close! The whales were everywhere and you could hear them loudly while snorkeling. I would love to go again. There is good food in the area, although you can plan on waiting in line for restaurants at Whalers Village (make reservations; it's easier). Don't do the free historical tour offered by Marriott; the volunteer gave very little history but lots of his own philosophy of life. Best location, beach, pool, accomodations. Buy "Maui Revealed" tour book at Kmart. Great guide.

My Wife and I stayed at here in 2008 for 2 weeks. We had a 1 bedroom with pool view. The unit was very clean and nice. The grounds at Marriott are very well maintained. The pool is very very nice. The ocean is right out front. The staff is friendly. The room was very quiet!! And we had AC but did not use it.

The unit does not have an oven or offer any inroom cooking other than the microwave. But they do have barbeques and they are well manintained and in good working order. There is a little picnic area in front of the ocean with barbeques and tables. There is nothing better than a great day of activity, and great healthy ocean front meal with the right wine.

The Marriott also shows a movie outside on a few select nights. They provide enough seating for everyone and the shows are generally geared towards family movies.

The Marriott has a nice exercise facility with the typical exercise machines you would find in a typical heatlth club and has a stretching room also. It overs looks the pool area and ocean and so there are some nices views while you exercise.

The beach is fantastic to swim in and great for long walks on the beach or on the walk path.

If you arrive around 10:30pm Lahaina, worn out and hungry then please don't ask the staff where to eat. They had no idea!!!!!!!! When there was an open resturant in walking distance from the Marriott. I don't know if the young staff were lying or just plain ignorant.

So the only negative was that the room had an OLD tube tv. Mostly we don't watch TV on vacation but we do like to rent a movie or two when we are there for 2 weeks.

Overall a very memorable vacation and a good value.

Wow. We stayed here in August for a week. Six of us altogether in the new Towers. Absolutely loved it. We had an ocean view and our own pool. The main resort pool was great as well. I loved that all activities were right there at the resort. You never had to leave if you didn't want to. Great dining and adventures are also very close driving distance away. Recommend stopping at Costco on way from airport to stock up on essentials like water, coffee, liquor, milk and other staples as they really come in handy at a cheaper rate. There is a Safeway close by in case you forget anything. The little pantry market on the premises offers essentials too. The resort grounds are very well kept and the Lahaina Towers where we stayed is immaculate and fabulous. In a word, we will be back again and again. The beach right out front is great for snorkling and the "Black Rock" at the end of the hotel walkway is a fabulous experience for jumping in the water and finding sea turtles. The water/waves can be a little rough right off the hotel, but experiment with different areas along the beach to find just the right mix of fewer rocks, more sand, better snorkling, or whatever you're looking for.

My family travels to Hawaii every year and we had always stayed just where ever we could get reservations for an affordable price, which usually ended up being about $300.00/night in an oceanview room at one of the outrigger hotels...... nothing great... hotel rooms, simple and nothing fancy or extra nice. about 4 yrs ago we came across The Maui Marriott on EBAY and we decided to rent a week for our stay in maui.... the rest is history. We own a timeshare in Daytona Beach Fl. and have not returned to it in 5 yrs. We spend 2-3 weeks in Maui every year now. Our kids love it at this resort and so do I. We have gotten to know the staff really well and look forward to spending time with them each yr. The guys at the pool and with the kids activities are the best. We do not own here, but we have been lucky enought o rent someone's weeks from them each time and once again, we are getting ready to spend a couple of weeks there in August with the kids! Redweek and Ebay are great places to look when you need a condo to rent! I give this resort 5 stars.... it may not be 100% perfect for everyone's likes... but it is for ours!!

We stayed here in June 2009. We were in the old building and it did look old. But the resort was fantastic and a good time for kids! The pool had slides, basketball, volleyball, and a pirate ship for the kids (but the little rocks around it did make it hard to walk in and hurt your feet!) But thankfully only the pirate ship had the annoying pebbles. It was not a problem to get a grill by the pool. We did the timeshare presentation and the new towers had wonderful rooms......we would book there if we come back again. The kids club did loan out sand toys and boogie boards and stuff for the kids which is nice, but they did not offer a drop off babysitting service which would have been nice! Instead you stay with your kids while they did a small project. We stayed at the Westin last June and they did half or whole day programs for the kids (for a fee) and they did the projects with the kids and took them to feed the koi fish and what not, so the parents could actually relax for a few hours! I wish the Marriott did this. I was told they did in the past but they did not have enough parents utilizing it.....maybe there is hope for the future, but call and ask first if you want any kid free time on your vacation. The resort activities were OK, but nothing to rave about. The food by the pool sucked! The restraunt by the beach was OK. Whalers villiage is any easy walk down the beach and had exellent food and drinks at Lailani's which is on the beach on the lower level and very casual and not over priced......Go there for good food near your resort. I would come back here again in a heart beat, but I probably would never buy a timeshare here b/c the studio side is nothing more then a hotel room! No washer/dryer in it and only a TINY fridge and microwave. (it literally sits in a cabinet.....barely a counter space at all!) That does not cut it in my book! The one bedroom is great, but you would not want to stay in the studio if you wanted to fix any food yourself! They do offer a free washer and dryer in the hall way to use if you stay in the studio and need to do laundry. The beach in front of the resort had small surfing waves the whole time we were there in June and you couldn't snorkel until you walked all the way down to black rock. It is walkable, but it was a very long walk in the sand! I was not willing to do that walk again without shoes with me! This area of Maui is the best and the resort here is just like a small paradise itself with beautiful landscaping and palm trees everywhere.

Just returned from first visit to Hawaii. Stayed for 2 weeks in Maui; first week at Marriott Ocean Club, second week at Westin Ocean Villas. I'll use a comparison as a review and a 1-10 rating.

Location: TIE (8) = 2 miles seperate the two properties and each have advantageous locations

Room: Westin (9) = occupied the single best unit at the Westin (2631/2630=top floor ocean front new building w/ largest balony) GET THIS ROOM if you can; at Marriott (6)stayed in Lanai (older converted hotel) 2 bed/3 bath...OK, but missed a full kitchen; If we had a new room at Marriott, I've a feeling that Westin would have lost out overall.

Grounds: Marriott (10) = Gorgeous park-like setting...stunning/lots of private areas around the pool with high-end umbrellas; Westin (7) was nice but felt like a resort...Westin pool chairs are so close you have NO privacy and there are very few chickies for which you have to hunt or go down at 730AM to attain

Outdoor grills: Marriott (10) = New VERY high end granite surrounded outdoor grills that are numerous and conveniently located-probably cost over $10K for each pair. Westin (7) nice, but more like a built in outdoor home type gas grill as opposed to Marriotts professional grade

Beach: Marriott (7) = The beach directly at Marriott is nice, but further down toward Sheraton it is very nice; Westin (5) = Nice to look at but unusable due coral. [As reference, we've traveled extensively throughout the carribean and typically vacation in Aruba which would score a (10) for beach quality]

Luxury feeling: Westin (8) High end products and service abound-nothing feels cheap except the beach towels; Marriott (7)...felt like a Marriott.

Service (front desk/restaurants/shops/bellman/valet): Westin (9) = VERY professional upscale service; very responsive. Marriott (7) felt like a Marriott.

Housekeeping: Westin/Marriott (4). Both resorts have subpar housekeeping standards. Each have a 1 time per week cleaning; When the sofa bed was opened the previous occupants bedding was still in place and very unkempt; Marriott had mold on the shower curtain and between some shower tiles; Westin had hairballs on shower floor; Westin housekeeping made the bed and left some toiletries...no towels replaced, nothing else done. Very disappointed with housekeeping at both properties and both felt somewhat dirty. Would not purchase from either for this fact alone. Our timeshare in Aruba (CLBR) has housekeeping 6 days per week and on the 7th day (Sunday) towels are replaced...and costs far less (albeit a somewhat older property) than either of these properties but still maintains a far superior beach with great service.

Recap. We had a nice time at both resorts and would probably return, but Maui would not be our first choice for destination.

Super pool opened Wednesday! All very nice, more lounge chairs and some nice updates. Plenty of room with all three pools open, not hard to find chairs. The old towers are getting a facelift with the newer leaf design to match the newer towers, it really looks good. Beautiful property and the beach has tons of sand this year.

We stay in the Lahaina Tower at this Marriott location in one of the Ocean View Studio rooms. It was just the right size for my wife and I. I think if we had our kids with us, it would have been uncomfortable. We stayed at the end of April and first of May 2009. The main Marriott pool was under construction since it is kind of off season. It didn't make much of a difference to us since we prefer the ocean activities and seeing the island more than sitting at a pool while in Heaven. When we were in our room though, we love it. Hi quality materials used in the rooms, very nice view, new and safe feeling. Parking is a little harder than it seems like it should be. There is a lack of sufficient parking (and we were there in the off season). I have noticed this at most Marriott properties.

    5 stars for me.

The highlight of our trip was a night out to Mamas Fish House in Paia. Best food in Maui. A little pricey but well worth it. Check it out!!

We just returned from a wonderful week at Marriott's Ocean Club. The location is excellent, it is easy to walk to a variety of restaurants. We brought our two children and they loved the pool and the Marriott children's program (MAZE) program (crafts, games by the pool, movie by the beach). We own at Hyatt and had never stayed at a Marriot property before, but really loved it. We never had a problem finding a chair or getting into a restaurant, but that may change once the new tower opens in a few weeks (adding 300+ rooms). Overall, a great property. We will go back. As an aside, we found a fantastic photographer, Steve Slater (you can google him). He came to the property and took family pictures for us at sunset on the beach. I was very pleased with his work and highly recommend him.

A very nice family resort. You can stay there on that side of the island all week. Plently of activiities to do. The pool is very wonderful. Big and the beach front is small. The rooms are nicely appointed. They will give you a roll away bed if needed. Parking is a structure. A great location and great snorkling beaches near-by.

The best hotel conversion I have seen. Much, much, much more attractive and plush than the Kauai Beach Club, which was a rather mediocre conversion at best. However, the laundry facilities are on the first floor, not even on every floor, which can be a problem. Rooms are large and comfortable. Ocean and pool views are great. The staff is very good. The location is great. We owned a one-bedroom ocean view here but recently upgraded to ocean front units in the new Lahaina Tower, which are absolutely exquisite.

We seem to return to Maui Ocean Club every year. It is just like going to a second home. This is great timeshare resort! Right on the beach . Marriott converted this property to a timeshare from one of their highly rated hotels. The advantage is the extra services, restaurant, and shops that are located right on site. It is a short drive to the historic town of Lahana and enjoyable walk on the beach to other shops and resaurants in Whaler's Village. Trade winds can be brisk at times. We always have a great time and hate to leave.

We have been returning to the Maui Marriott for about six years. We have always had a wonderful time there. The pool is fantastic and the pool staff is very friendly. We never have had a problem with pool police, although I do believe it would be easy to sneak into the pool due to it's close proximity to the beach.

The rooms are comfortable, although I must admit I wish there was a washer/dryer in the room. It was a pain lugging clothes from our tower to the next, but it certainly didn't hinder our fun. We purchased our unit when the hotel was converted to a timeshare and that didn't stop us . We don't miss not having a full kitchen, because we enjoy eating at the restaurants on site and at Whaler's Village.

My teenage son loved the scuba program and proudly shows his scuba certification card he earned while there. He loved swimming with the giant sea turtles.

All in all, we don't regret our timeshare purchase and look forward to going there again.
